After years in the making, York Winery finally announced the launch of the York Sparkling Rosé – a 100% Shiraz sparkling wine, reports Kanika Dhawan. Speaking about the wine, co-owner Kailash Gurnani said, “Made in the traditional method, this batch has been aged on lees for 18 months and four months on cork. A small component of the blend has been matured in oak barrels and it has a residual sugar of 10g/l.”
Although champagne and sparkling wines don’t usually have a vintage, this is a small batch released as a vintage 2015 bubbly. Adds Gurnani, “We intend to keep it that way with the vintage 2016 which be well and truly into its maturation phase.”
The York Sparkling Rosé is priced at Rs 1,300 in Maharashtra and will currently be on sale only at the Tasting Room of the winery. It will be released first in Mumbai followed later by Delhi.
